NOOTERS CLUB HELPS WITH BUNNY ADOPTIONS
Nooters Club was on hand June 27 to help Tiny Paws Rescue find homes for homeless rabbits at the Pet Supplies store in White Lake, Mich. I spoke with and pre-screened prospective adopters considering taking a bunny home. We also had our Nooters Club rabbit motif apparel items for sale with a part of the proceeds going to Tiny Paws Rescue. I continue to be amazed by the number of people who are shocked that you should get your rabbit fixed. When I mention that I have four, I usually hear something like, “I bet you are going to end up with a lot more, ha, ha.” Not if Nooters Club can help it!

GRAND RAPIDS AND TROY HOOTERS TO HOST NOOTERS EVENTS
Nooters Club is joining with two Michigan Hooters to launch spay and neuter events in Troy, Michigan and Grand Rapids, Michigan in September and October 2009. We are working with All About Animals Rescue in Warren, Michigan and C-Snip in Grand Rapids, Michigan, both high-quality, low-cost shelters that will pre-sell spay and/or neuter vouchers at the events. Watch for more information on this blog and in our NOOZLETTER which you can sign up to receive monthly at nootersclub.org.

TAKE FIDO CAMPING ONLY IF HE IS FIXED
If you are a camper, before you go out and buy all that fancy gear like collapsible doggie dishes and freeze-dried dog food, do the best thing possible for your pet. Get him or her fixed. A spayed or neutered dog is less likely to stray from the campsite. AND, you will not come home with a litter! Neither will your campground neighbor! Many pet guardians are amazed at how quickly the pet mating ritual can occur. Somewhere between the campfire songs and the s’ mores, you could come home with more little campers than you bargained for! So help us “Prevent Littering®” and see your veterinarian before you pack your tent.

PET SUPPLIES PLUS IN WHITE LAKE, MI BOOSTS WEEKEND CAT ADOPTIONS
Many pet supplies stores host pet adoptions, but the Pet Supplies Plus store in White Lake, Mich. is cranking things up. Owner Addy Shattuck always has about 10 cats for adoption in each of her three stores. Now, in collaboration with Oakland Pet Adoption Center in Auburn Hills Mich., she is bringing in a dozen or more from the Center for the weekends when the number of shoppers increases. Shattuck, a huge animal lover, says she will continue the program through the summer. For information call 248-889-4131.
TRUSSVILLE, AL HOOTERS GOES ALL OUT FOR NOOTERS
Spay Alabama recently held a Hooters for Nooters fundraiser at the Trussville, Alabama Hooters featuring Nooters Club products. Head of Spay Alabama Donald Kendrick says that each year about 160,000 dogs and cats go into Alabama shelters and animal control facilities and about 120,000 of these are euthanized. Donald is committed to reducing pet overpopulation in his state and has been working with Nooters Club as one way to raise pet owner awareness. See coverage of the event on

Having a lot of fun with Heavy Petting
By far, the Nooters Club saying that we get the most laughs from is “My Dog (Cat or RAbbit) Stops at Heavy Petting.” A lot of people are wearing these t-shirts and nightshirts. Funny thing we have noticed, however – a number of younger people — say, early 20s and younger — don’t get it! Is it called something else? Would love to hear from you 20-somethings!

Congrats to City of Laguna Woods, CA for ordinance passage!
We learned recently that the City of Laguna Woods, CA has become another city to pass a mandatory spay and neuter ordinance. We met the very nice Ron Beldner, member of the City’s Animal Control Advisory Committee, out in California when we were there for America’s Family Pet Expo. Ron indicated there was strong support from their city council. Nooters Club gave Ron a bunch of t-shirts to take back to council members. We hope they enjoy the shirts. If any of our readers know of any municipalities passing S/N ordinances, please let us know and we will send out more shirts!!
Getting lots of requests for low-cost spay/neuter info
Nooters Club continues to get a lot of requests for low-cost spay/neuter information. Out in Calif., over a three-day period, we must have gotten more than 100 requests. It seems that there are a lot of people out there who want to get their pets fixed, however cannot afford regular veterinary fees. Nooters Club continues to build the “Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Resources” area of our website. If your group offers low-cost S/N, please contact us with your information at Lindaw@nootersclub.org.
More interest in RABBIT “Nooters”!
Nooters Club just returned from America’s Family Pet Expo in Orange County, Calif. We are happy to say that we are getting more questions about RABBIT spay and neuter. Our new RABBIT cartoons and products are getting some attention and more people are asking about, “Why a rabbit — we didn’t know you could fix a bunny!” As bunny people know, spayed and neutered pet rabbits have fewer behavior and health problems and live longer. We will keep spreading the word!!
What’s up with you GUYS?
Just about every time the topic of pet neutering comes up, I hear a lot of commnts about guys and their fear of getting male pets neutered. Yet I have never met one of these guys!! Guys – do you really have a fear? If so, I would like to know more. In fact, if anyone can explain this to me (In a way that makes sense!), I will send them a FREE Nooters Club t-shirt. We have sizes for the big guys too! — Linda
